We arrived at Punderson State Park, outside of cleveland last night with enough time to set up camp and eat quickly before the skys opened up. For those counting along at home that makes the two nights in Atlanta and the one at the grand canyon the only times all trip that it didn’t rain while we were camping. Luckily Morty was move enough to make us smores before the rain came, he even added peanut butter for extra yummy!!

This morning we headed out to the rock n roll hall of fame, which had a michael Jackson memorial by the entrance with random stuffed animals and such (why is it that people leave stuffed animals for dead people?) and a special exhibit up on Bruce Springsteen. The museum itself was pretty cool, especially the costumes and the video of inductees. After a few hours at the museum we were starving so we headed to West Side Market (coincidentally the name of my preferred grocery store in NYC). They have a nice little cafe attached to the giant market (think Lexington market in baltimore or Soulard in St Louis or Chelsea Market in NYC, any of those but bigger…and nicer in some cases). Post feeding, we went to the USS Cod memorial/monument thing. Basically it was a WWII submarine sitting next to a Coast Guard base that they preserved how it wouldve been back in the day that you could climb on/in/around. After that we finally played putt putt at this super sketch kiddie park place where all of the holes were full of water from the aforementioned rain. We headed to the game after that. The stadium was pretty nice, but not as spectacular as I had expected (I’m still unclear as to why I had such high expectations, possibly because it’s always mentioned with Camden yards?). Nachos were meh, nothing special and the cheese wasn’t that hot. The beer was cheap, but they only had bud light and miller light on tap so I got a bottled Great Lakes Ale which was good. Big news of the night was our appearances on the jumbotron, thanks to our awesome signs. Also thanks to the signs and the t shirts we got to practice for the inevitable questions that await us both at our next family functions.

Back to the camp now, leaving for home in the morning.

Today we’re on the way to Cleveland, a drive both becky and I have done the majority of many times before. We’re hoping for some great religious billboards, now that we’ve passed through Effingham, crossroads of opportunity and home to the giant cross.

We had some down time today, so we decided to take munchkin car to the bath. The people at clayton car wash on hanley were amazed at the number of bugs, and as we got out of the car to await it being cleaned, the guy says, “you guys mustve hit every bug in the country!” If only he knew how right he was!!

We’re off to Cleveland in the morning, our last stop.

Yay!!! Also I have a quadrillion photos for when she gets home. There is even an extra closet for sadie! Also she wanted to make sure to let you guys know that there are only 4 stairs to go up when moving furniture in. YAY!

The Busch…

We’re back in st louis for the first time in a long while. First time for me since graduation and for becky since our one year reunion. Not a whole lot has changed, but enough to make me feel like it was forever ago that I was here. Out first stop was of course steak n shake. For those of you thy have never had the joyous experience, it is the most fantastic greasy burger and shake place. I dragged my dad to it on spring break in Florida, and it was quite disappointing, so I was worried it wouldn’t be like I remembered..but it was as AMAZING as ever.

The game was fun, Jason came with us and enjoyed playing with Morty. To clarify, Jason was in the pic with Morty, not the cute little boy in front of us, didn’t realize how that looked until after I posted it and it was too amusing to erase. The stadium was the same as normal, nice view of the arch and a giant parking lot. Cards lost to the giants, but pujols had two homers and we got to see the Big Unit and Chris Carpenter both pitch. Also super nachos were yummy and not super expensive. getting to and from was easy enough with the metrolink. It’s really hard to review a stadium I’ve been to 18 million times.

Today is apartment searching for becky (yay we found one!) and car wash/poster making. We also had lunch with Jason at the DUC which was crazy creepy it’s weird how different it is from the ‘ckrodt (we decided that’s what we’re calling mallinckrodt from now on, seriously why didn’t it have any nicknames?).

For those of you concerned about morty’s safety after dude falling accident last night, he is alive and well, making friends with the cutest little boy ever in front of us.
